Church of St James at Brassington in Derbyshire
St James's church at Brassington in Derbyshire
St James church is situated high above the main village at Brassington overlooking it's narrow streets and fine old buildings. It is essentially a Norman church with a fine south arcade of 3 bays, south chancel aisle of 2 bays, a later north aisle, and a Norman tower. The south porch is 13th century as proved by it's outer doorway. Some windows are Perp. The North aisle was added by F.J Robinson in 1879-81.
Inside the tower west wall is a crude figure of a man with his hand on his heart.
